Novena for Vocations

My Lord Jesus, I come to You with great confidence as my Eternal High Priest and Immaculate Victim and I humbly beseech You: send many holy priests and oblates into Your harvest, and protect and strengthen the vocations which You have called.

 

Lord of the Harvest, bless young people with the gift of courage to respond to your call. Open their hearts to great ideals, to great things. Inspire all of your disciples to mutual love and giving - for vocations blossom in the good soil of faithful people. Instill those in religious life, parish ministries, and families with the confidence and grace to invite others to embrace the bold and noble path of a life consecrated to you. Unite us to Jesus through prayer and sacrament, so that we may cooperate with you in building your reign of mercy and truth, of justice and peace.

 

Give them humility, meekness, prudence, and a burning zeal for souls. Fill their hearts with the gifts of the Holy Ghost. Teach them to know and love the Church, which you have entrusted the Archangel Michael to defend. May they always and everywhere speak, act, and think in obedience with the Church, the glorious spouse of Christ. Teach them generosity and detachment from worldly goods; but above all, teach them to know You and to love the One and Only Eternal Priest, good Shepherd of Souls.

 

Jesus, fill those you have called with the fortitude and strength of character required to guide Your Church through seasons of plenty and through seasons of need. Give them Your wisdom to bring comfort and support to those whom they serve. It is through them and the example of their faithful dedication to you that lives can be transformed.

Dear Lord, I thank You for providing for the Church through the prayers and works of men and women in religious orders. I ask that You call more men and women to serve You in religious life, and that You provide for them all that they need to serve You faithfully in their vocation.

 

Please move more men and women to serve You in religious life, and I particularly ask You today to call more men and women to serve You in monastic religious orders!

 

Help your people to grow in love and devotion to You each day. Open the hearts of all of us to be eager to devote our lives entirely to You.
