Novena for Careers, Employment, and Career Discernment

St. Joseph &
St. Cajetan

St. Joseph, patron saint of workers &

St. Cajetan, patron saint of unemployed workers and job seekers.

Heavenly Father, Creator of all and source of all goodness and love, please look kindly upon me and receive my heartfelt gratitude as I praise you and give you thanks. Lord God, I do not always remember to thank You as I ought for all You have done for me and given me. I praise You for Your generosity and offer my prayers of thanksgiving to You today for all You have blessed me with. Help me to grow in gratitude each day, in every circumstance. Help me to grow closer to You each day of my life.

I acknowledge You for all gifts and blessings You have bestowed upon me: food and shelter, my health, the love I have for others, my family and friends. I thank you for the gift of life and all the gifts of nature; my senses, my faculties, my talents and my abilities. I thank you for creating me in your image and likeness and for giving me this earth to use and develop, to respect and cherish.

Out of Your abundant love, you chose to create the world and to make man in Your own image. You have given me life in order that I might know, love, and serve You.

And I especially pray in this novena (mention your blessings here for which you are offering gratitude).

Heavenly Father, loving God, I turn my heart to You on this day, mindful of Your many gifts. For each one, I am grateful. For each one, I am blessed. For each one, I am opened to the abundance of Your love. I acknowledge you for the countless blessings You’ve provided. I thank You for giving me clear direction through Your Holy Word. Through good and bad times, help me to see that I am blessed beyond measure.

May this day offer a reminder to be generous with others, as You are with me. I praise You. I rejoice in You. I give You thanks.

Heavenly Father, help me to see and pray not only for my loved ones, but also for those around me in positions of need. When I have food, help me to remember the hungry; When I have work, help me to remember the jobless; When I have a home, help me to remember those who have no home at all; When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer, And remembering, help me to destroy my complacency and blind indifference; help me to have compassion for those around me, and be concerned enough to help; By word and deed, those who cry out for what I take for granted.

Dear Jesus, thank you for Your infinite generosity, your infinite love, your infinite compassion. You gave the greatest sacrifice of yourself out of love for me. Help me to remember you in my times of need. Help me to take refuge in your holy embrace, so that I may continue to be open to the condolences and graces you take pleasure in offering me. Help me to continue to look for, and to recognize your good works that are all around me. Help me to more easily hear your quite voice and to respond to you in ways that bring me ever closer to you. I love you with all my heart and I praise you in your limitless capacity for goodness.

Amen.

Say Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be, three times.
